01 Mar 8 Great Tops for Spring
Spring arrivals are gathering momentum in leaps and bounds! As I peruse, my eye’s been caught on some fabulous tops for petite proportions. A new blouse paired with some stalwart classics you’ve already got in your wardrobe – say, a great pair of slacks and maybe a skimming cardigan or light jacket – is an easy way to add an of-the-moment re-fresh without need to make a bunch of buying choices for a whole outfit, and without breaking la bank.
Meanwhile, a teeth-chattering “Brrrrr!” to you from NYC today. We’re still caught up in the throes of freezing temps here, snow included this weekend. Many of you are already into spring-y weather (So envious!), and soon enough – surely soon enough – it will be time even here to switch over to warm weather looks like these…
A fun and ethereal-looking blouse that looks like it was drawn on by the world’s most talented doodler. It’s my personal number one of this bunch.
This smock-necked shell is a favorite for a trifecta of reasons: the colors are great, the stem motif is delicate and petite-friendly, and the fabric variation front to back is just delightful!
This gorgeous breezy yellow eyelet peasant blouse managed to evade my recent hello, yellow post by not yet being available when I put it together, but it clearly belongs! I’d wear it off-the-shoulder too, sometimes when it gets warm enough.
I’m glad to see soft and feminine flutter sleeves around for another season. But what I really love about this top is its more-than-stripes kind of stripes. Think of this one to sub out a T for an upgraded but still casual look.
More stripes in a so-pretty pink and black combo. But you know what’s really got me stoked about this blouse? The tie around the neck is removable, so you get two ways to wear it. Always good to have options.
Polka dots are a thing this spring. Here’s a beautiful rendition on a well-done camp shirt. I love when the buttons are covered in the blouse’s fabric, as they are here.
I love how the navy and green polka dots on this flutter-sleeved option are in hide-and-seek formation. Very pop art looking.
A really, really good jersey faux wrap shell. Comes in a beautiful navy, too. A staple piece — you’ll be glad to have a version of this to grab for in your closet. If you don’t already, this top is, well, tops.
