09 Apr April Showers Bring… Umbrellas
My daughter picked up the absolute coolest, smartest umbrella, and it — plus the weather this time of year — is the subject matter of todays’s post. Hers is possessed with all kinds of umbrella magic. It’s got a super clever design that makes it stand on its own and not get you all wet when you open and close it. It’s extra sturdy in the wind, too. I’m going get one for myself. Happily, there are quite a few delightful choices, which makes the selection so much fun…
The cover photo for this post is my personal favorite.
So, here’s the scoop: This umbrella is a rain-game changer. The key is that it folds in reverse direction from a standard umbrella, from the inside out. Like this:
This helps keep you nice and dry when you fold it up after being in the rain. It also totally stands on its own when folded, to free your hands or to set down and store. This is what it looks like when you stand it up on its own — you can see how it has folded in reverse. What’s inside when the umbrella is opened (the part that stays dry) ends up on the outside when folded up.
Because it’s got a wide even base at the bottom when folded up in this partial way, it can stand on its own, with the handle on top ready to grab and go. It folds up slimly all the way, like the width of a standard umbrella, too, and comes with both a sleeve and a case with a strap.
Another hand freeing feature while you’re actually using it is the C-shape handle which lets you carry it on your wrist.
It’s also got a dual layer of fabric for shade and UV protection. It’s one sturdy little mama, too.
Bring on the raindrops.
