Belt Bags

The belt bag – the younger, hipper cousin of the “fanny pack” – is an on-fire trend right now. Worn high on the waist, low-slung around the hips, or on a crossbody diagonal, belt bags are streetwise and sophisticated. They free both hands. They stay put, close and secure to the body. They force an economy of what you carry with you. They make excellent travel companions. They are just a plain good idea all around.

Because they are small by their very nature, they make for an easy trend for petite proportions. Lucky us! I say take full advantage, and be an early adopter. Here are Petiterie’s picks…

This GG Marmont Gucci belt bag has attained cult status.

I’m head over heels for MZ Wallace’s shiny new lacquered nylon – especially in cranberry – and I’m so excited they’ve made a belt bag out of it.

A very sculptural take by Amsterdam designer Elza Wandler in a rather perfect gray.

I like the well-balanced look of this Parisa Wang version.

The circular shape of this bag is refreshing, and it’s downright gorgeous in this neutral pair-with-anything stone color.

Metallic mesh and leather give this belt bag some edge. Psst! It’s on sale.

Here’s a minimalistic beauty in shimmery rose gold.

Ted Baker’s design has a fun pompom tassle that is detachable on days when you’re not feeling like having that much fun with your belt bag.
