Burgundy Bounty

A classic neutral that never goes out of style, the color burgundy is a perennial fall-to-winter darling. The deep, rich hue adds sophistication to daytime looks and a burst of strong color to dressier looks for night.

Gold clip dots holiday-up this very pretty, very flowy blouse.

A coordinated cami for underneath that blouse, as it’s sheer.

I automatically hesitate when it comes to corduroy. The richness of  hue, jean styling, and good stretch win me over on these pinwale skinnies.

These Joan Vass wide-leg velvet pants have a beautiful, slightly flaired shape, and are priced quite nicely, too.

Top this fabulous paillette-covered pencil skirt with a soft cashmere sweater or silk blouse for an instantly sleek and sparkly holiday party look.

This double-serge wool pencil skirt is so smart for a cooler weather office look. In petite sizing it’s around 19 1/2″ from the waist, so knee-length if you’re close to 5′ like me. Consider the regular size, which is around 21 1/2″, if you need more length to it.

My kind of holiday party dress… clean lines, well-cut at the bodice. The higher waistline creates some visual lengthening too, which is a great styling strategy for petite proportions.

The minimalist pleating at one side of this knit flare dress is that just-right kind of design detail that elevates what would be an otherwise ordinary cut.  At 25 1/4″ from the waist, it’s midi length on just about 5′ me, which is just how I’d like it.

In search of an idea for a holiday gift? Here’s a very well-priced oversized cashmere scarf that would make a most excellent travel wrap.
