Linen Tees

A little more elevated than their cotton cousins, linen tees have a cool look and feel that says warm weather’s here, and are perfection as toppers for casual two-piece outfits. As with all things linen, they can be just a little on the tricky side to clean and travel with – cold water gentle cycle and a mini travel steamer are the name of the game to keep them as you’d like them. Light and breezy, nicely drape- y, and possessed with that delicious combination of crispness and lived-in creases that makes linen so wonderful to wear. I used to shy away from sheerer options (light colors and thinner fabrications), but not any more… a nude-toned cami underneath like this one solves the peek-a-boo problem, and gives me many more choices.

Because it’s slightly cropped, this roll sleeved tee from J Crew is actually petite-perfect in regular sizing. Comes in some very excellent color options besides this sumptuous heathered navy hue, which is my personal favorite.

I’m loving this soft khaki color, and the v-neck is Goldilocks-worthy “just right“, not too shallow, not to deep.

An adjusting tie at the waist makes this pretty-in-pale-pink linen tee not standard issue and exceptionally easy wearing.

Skinny-sized marigold-yellow stripes create a “ladder effect” on this Eileen Fisher option, elongating the torso. I’m really into its wide-ish square neck, too, like a slightly more structured version of a bateau.

A less pricey choice in stripes, in beautiful terra cotta, which I like to think of as a neutral – think of how gorgeous all different colors of summer perennials look in a classic clay pot, and you get my idea. I think this top’s subtle features – a slight puff at the sleeve and teensy ruffle effect to the tiered hem – are quite pretty.

I’m really into what this tee‘s got going for it: a wonderful, softer version of a v-neck, cap sleeves, and a very excellent slouch factor.

Feminine flair – but not overly so – in the form of a scoop neck and ever so gently fluttery sleeves and hem are great on this warmly hued linen tee.
