Mad for plaid

Plaid conjures up fall for me. Wools and flannels. Jackets and scarves. It’s still muggy and warmish here in New York City, but seasonal change is peeking around the calendar corner, ready to roll. It’s any day now that we’ll feel that chill settle into the air. So let’s explore some plaid looks together, Petiterie-style…

An updated camp shirt, in a wonderfully neutral black and white plaid to pair with just about any color on the bottom, or with black pants and a color pop for some of your accessories (bold or pastel).

My kind of red and a most excellent smattering of styling details on this semi-sheer blouse (pair with a cami like this one underneath)… a great option for out-on-the-town time.

The pink and melon tones on this skirt are a fresh departure from typical plaid color palettes.

A solid dress for the office with a fabulous square neckline.

J’adore this French-inspired windowpane jacket. I don’t usually go matchy-matchy suitwise, especially in patterns, but this is arguably a possible exception.

A great flannel shirt for walking through the park, watching the leaves do their autumn thing.

Aye, bonnie lass. A can’t-get-any-cozier sherpa-lined cozy Tartan plaid hoodie.

This head-turner of a bomber jacket is a gorgeous layer for fall.

I love that these leggings are navy, and pretty minimalist as far as plaid goes. Tuck them into some boots and top off with a white button-down shirt and a scarf, or wear with a chunky sweater.
