05 Jun Ann Taylor 60% Off Dresses and Skirts: Part I
Get ready for some raving. I’m really impressed with this season’s round at Ann Taylor; I think it’s one of their best collections in quite some time. Truly. If you’ve been thinking of adding some new style in the way of dresses or skirts to your wardrobe, now is an excellent time to pounce: AT is offering 60% off new dress and skirt styles through 6/6 (promo code: NEWLOOK60). This is one real heavy hitter of a sale, with the biggest discount they’ll offer this season. And since it’s for new merchandise, you’ll have the bonus of wearing your bargains as they are still hot off the presses.
Today’s post has my picks for dresses. One feature that stands out to me in particular about the AT dress collection this season is construction and detailing that is flattering and enhancing at the waistline. The fabrics this season are fabulous and feel great to the touch, many with nice give and stretch and many that will pack well, too. Designs are Ann Taylor at its best: modern classic. And the colors this season are rich versions of mostly classic colors, too, like navy, deep red, olive, and white.
I envision this as a perfect travel companion, as it’s made of matte jersey which tends to not hold onto creases and wrinkles. If only skin was so accommodating.
Another very fabulous matte jersey option, also great for packing, with a flattering smidge of single-sided rouching at the waist.
Why, yes, I am crushing on the matte jersey. Yet another very wonderful option, the most casual of the three. This rich navy is my preference (comes in yellow, too).
A great summer party dress, with a beautiful combination of swing and sophistication. I’d say yes to wearing it on occasion with animal print pumps or heeled sandals – I think it would be fun – though I’d probably most often opt for a nude or black shoe.
A classically beautiful white dress, with an extra touch of pizzazz in the form of diagonal textured striping.
This dress is a fantastic way to add some of the gorgeous yellow that’s all the rage these days into your lineup. The single color coupled with a higher waistline is visually elongating for your legs, so it’s a great styling strategy for petite proportions.
A very well-done portrait collar has me considering this dress, and in a poppy color choice that’s – truth be told – a little outside of my comfort zone. I’d consider this deep pink over the alternative shale blue color, which I’ve got enough of in my closet.
My idea of a perfectly conceived season-defying LBD: one detail – like the stunning gathered stand up collar here – on an otherwise simple, classic silhouette.
