10 Sep Rhapsody in Blue
Fun fact: United Airlines licensed this gorgeous George Gershwin classic for use as their theme song all the way back in 1976 for $500,000. Today, it’s hard to think of the piece without its association to the airline – you hear snippets playing onboard United flights (Dun-dun-dun-dah-dah-dun-dun-dah-dah…), and it’s been featured in many a commercial.
Today’s post is an altogether different rhapsody, in blues you can wear. There are some lovely little numbers in this color around for this season in petite sizing. Here’s Petiterie’s list of greatest hits:
Very much a frequent rotation kind of dress. I love the figure-flattering rouching on this faux wrap dress, and the cobalt blue color and three-quarter length sleeves make it a piece you can wear all year round. Can’t say that about too many things.
J Crew’s highly popularParke blazer is back this season, which is a boon for petites because the proportions are so great for a smaller frame, right down to the slim cut of the lapel. This year’s crop for the cooler months features a sumptuous navy velvet that’s un-dark enough to appreciate that it’s in the blue versus black family.
I like this sort of top as an outer layer for transit to and from the gym, with its wide boat neck that lets a little of your workout wear peek out at the shoulders.
The scoop neck on this sweater is fabulous.
“More leg-lengthening features than you can shake a stick at” is how my Inner Texas Girl describes these pants, with their high waist, slight flare at the bottom and a crisp vertical pleat down each leg.
Inner Texas Girl also adores this easy wearing denim dress with its awesome western styling at the shoulder and snap closure.
Nope, it’s not too early to think about a fluffy faux fur coat.
